Preparation
Origin Story
The Negroni was born in Florence, Italy, around 1919, when Count Camillo Negroni asked his bartender at Caffè Casoni to strengthen his usual Americano by replacing the soda water with gin. The bartender, Fosco Scarselli, obliged and added an orange garnish instead of lemon to mark the difference. The equal-parts combination of gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth became an instant classic that has endured for over a century.
